Re-reading the firmware update instructions I note that under applicable models it states DSC-RX10 which in the absence of any exclusions, I assumed applied to all marks i.e. My thanks to all for your helpful suggestions.
Sony tv firmware update problem 2018 install#
Possibly the OP is trying to install the v2.0 update for the RX100m3. There is no firmware update for RX10 III.
It sure would be nice if Sony was a bit more inovative in their model numbering system.
You might as well be trying to install software for a Nikon in your camera. The RX10, RX10M2, RX10M3 and RX10M4 are all different cameras. No, the moral of the story is to not try to install software for a different camera into the camera you have. I suppose the moral of this story is to read the content before thinking about installing any updates. Incidentally, in my experience and no doubt others who do not restrict themselves to a single maker's products, Sony do not appear to have the exclusive right to crappy software. Life is too short, if it aint broke don't fix it.Īgree, there is more to life than the self-inflicted punishment of trying to navigate a way around non-intuitive camera software in what is fast becoming an erroneous belief (at least to me), that to install the latest version is a " must do." I had exactly the same frustrating experience with RX100 M2, all attempts to upgrade my firmware also failed exactly as you described, tried all suggestions on these forums then came to the conclusion that the time wasted debugging Sony's crappy software would be better used actually taking pictures.
